Today we’d like to introduce you to Marita Taylor.
Marita, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
“I always felt that I lived in a different century and wore royal clothes and magnificent headpieces. My high school nickname was “Queen Margo”. The combination of structures, materials, and colors always fascinated me, and I started my architectural career after acquiring a Masters Degree from the University of St. Petersburg. I worked on many projects in Saint- Petersburg in Moscow, Tel Aviv in Israel and later in the United States in Newport Beach, and Palm Springs.
A few years ago I was inspired to make elaborate and ornamental headpieces. I couldn’t find a perfect headpiece to wear on my wedding day and literally took matters into my own hands by creating my first headpiece. The headpiece resulted in 15-20 different designs until I made the perfect one. I was able to sell the other designed headpieces to many happy brides and a new company for bridal and special occasion accessories was born.
Since 2015, I have created and sold over 400 headpieces and accessories for brides, music festivals, special events, and many of my headpieces have been worn by celebrities.”
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
“Ups and downs. My struggle is – I have not enough time for everything since I’m running my business solo and I’m wearing too many hats. I wish I could clone myself, one of me would be creating, another doing marketing, attending art shows, networking, traveling etc.”
So, as you know, we’re impressed with AristoKrown – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
“I was born in Russia Saint Petersburg, where my ancestors were Russian Aristocrats. My company name AristoKrown was created by combining the art of Aristocratic Crowns (Krowns in Russian).
My company specializes in creating unique organic headpieces for bridal and special occasions. All my headpieces very light in weight and comfortable to wear for hours. Each one is one of a kind.
I love building, creating and using different natural materials: metals, fabrics, gemstones, crystals, polymer clay, acrylics etc. One of the innovations of AristoKrown is to repurpose and incorporate vintage jewelry into new designs.”
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
“Dream Big! I would love to see my headpieces on the cover of high fashion magazines, at top fashion “runways” and worn by celebrities at “red carpet” events.
Also would love to create costume headwear for movie sets and theatrical productions.”
- My simple headpieces start at $50
- Elaborate headpieces run from $200-$1100
